The Paradise Academy Students Enjoy Educational Beach Visit to Filey

On Saturday, students from The Paradise Academy enjoyed a memorable educational visit to Filey Beach in partnership with the Marine Conservation Society.
The visit was designed to give students a hands-on opportunity to explore the natural coastal environment and learn about the importance of protecting our beaches and marine ecosystems. Throughout the day, students participated in a range of engaging activities, including a seashore treasure hunt, exploring coastal habitats, identifying shells, seaweed and marine life, and discovering how wildlife thrives along the shoreline. The trip encouraged curiosity, teamwork and a greater appreciation for Allah's beautiful creation and the importance of caring for the environment.
We were delighted to receive very positive feedback from **Lorna** at the Marine Conservation Society, who commented on the students' enthusiasm, curiosity and excellent participation throughout the day. She particularly praised one student for his thoughtful questions and eagerness to learn.
It was also heartening to hear that the owners of a local gift shop, who have links to the Girlington community, complimented our students on their excellent manners and respectful behaviour, remarking that they wished all of their customers were as polite. Such feedback reflects the values and character that we strive to instil in all of our students, both inside and outside the classroom.
As a special surprise, the Marine Conservation Society presented each student with an educational goodie bag containing binoculars, a reusable water bottle, a wildlife identification guide, a sketch pad, colouring pencils and other resources to encourage further outdoor exploration and learning. These packs are only presented to a small number of groups each year, and we are incredibly grateful that Paradise Academy was selected.
We extend our sincere thanks to the **Marine Conservation Society**, especially **Lorna**, for delivering such an engaging and educational experience. We would also like to thank our dedicated staff and volunteers for their support throughout the day, helping to make the trip safe, enjoyable and memorable for everyone involved.
We hope you enjoy the photographs from the day, which capture some of the wonderful experiences and learning that took place.

Bradford's Iconic Places of Worship Tour Visits Masjid-e-Umar

On Tuesday 30th June 2026, we were honoured to welcome **a diverse group of participants from different community organisations and backgrounds** who took part in **Bradford's Iconic Places of Worship Tour**. Throughout the day, the group visited several places of worship across the city, including a **church, synagogue, gurdwara, Hindu temple and Masjid-e-Umar**, learning about the beliefs, traditions and the important role each place of worship plays within the wider community.
The group arrived at **Masjid-e-Umar around midday**, where they received a warm welcome. Their visit began with a short presentation introducing Islam and highlighting the many roles the mosque playsโnot only as a place of worship, but also as a centre for education, youth work, charitable initiatives, family support and community engagement.
Guests then had the opportunity to **listen to a beautiful recitation of the Holy Qur'an**, followed by an open discussion where they asked thoughtful questions and engaged in respectful conversations about Islam and the work of the mosque.
Following the presentation, everyone enjoyed a shared lunch together, providing a wonderful opportunity for people from different faiths, backgrounds and community organisations to meet, share experiences and build new friendships.
One of the highlights of the visit was experiencing the **Adhan (call to prayer)**, after which our guests observed the **Dhuhr congregational prayer**, giving them a first-hand insight into Muslim worship and the peaceful atmosphere of the mosque.
At **Masjid-e-Umar**, we remain committed to opening our doors to people of all faiths and backgrounds, fostering dialogue, mutual respect and stronger community relationships. We sincerely thank everyone who visited and hope they left with a greater understanding of Islam and the vital role that mosques play in serving both the Muslim community and wider society.
We pray that initiatives such as these continue to strengthen friendship, respect and understanding between the diverse communities of Bradford. See attached photos of our day.

The Finality of Prophethood - Khatme Nabuwat

What is the Finality of Prophethood?
"Muแธฅammad ๏ทบ is not the father of any of your men, but he is the Messenger of Allah and the Seal of the Prophets."** *(Surah al-Ahzab 33:40)*
The belief in **Khatme Nabuwat (the Finality of the Prophethood of Sayyiduna Muhammad ๏ทบ)** is one of the fundamental beliefs of Islam. Every Muslim believes that our beloved Prophet Muhammad ๏ทบ is **the final Messenger of Allah**, after whom there will be no prophet until the Day of Judgement.
In today's world, where misinformation and false ideologies can spread rapidly, it is essential for every Muslim to have a sound understanding of this core belief. Learning about Khatme Nabuwat strengthens our faith, enables us to answer common misconceptions with wisdom, and helps us safeguard ourselves, our families, and future generations.
Knowledge is one of the greatest protections for our Iman. By attending gatherings of authentic scholars, we gain a deeper appreciation of the honour and unique status of our beloved Prophet ๏ทบ, whilst increasing our awareness of the challenges facing the Muslim Ummah today.
**Masjid-e-Umar, Bradford** is pleased to organise a coach to the **Annual Khatme Nabuwat Conference** at **Birmingham Central Mosque** on **Sunday 26th July**.
This is a valuable opportunity to benefit from renowned scholars, increase your understanding of this vital aspect of our faith, and spend the day in the company of fellow Muslims seeking beneficial knowledge.

A New Year - A New Beginning - 1448AH

๐ The New Islamic Year 1448 AH โ The Significance of Muharram
As we welcome the beginning of **1448 AH**, we thank Allah ุณุจุญุงูู ูุชุนุงูู for granting us another Islamic year. The month of **Muharram** marks the start of the Islamic calendar and is one of the most blessed months of the year.
Muharram is unique because it is the only month specifically attributed to Allah. The Messenger of Allah ๏ทบ said:
"The best fasting after Ramadan is fasting in Allah's Month, Muharram."
*(Sahih Muslim)*
This honour highlights the special status and virtue of this blessed month. It is an opportunity for every believer to renew their relationship with Allah, increase in worship, seek forgiveness, and begin the new year with sincerity and good deeds.
The Virtue of the Day of 'Ashura
One of the most significant days of Muharram is the **10th of Muharram**, known as **'Ashura**.
The Messenger of Allah ๏ทบ said:
"Fasting the day of 'Ashura, I hope that Allah will accept it as an expiation for the sins of the previous year."
*(Sahih Muslim)*
What a tremendous gift from Allah! Through the fasting of a single day, a believer hopes to attain forgiveness for the minor sins of the previous year.
To distinguish the Muslims from previous nations, the scholars recommend fasting:
* **9th and 10th Muharram**, or
* **10th and 11th Muharram**
This year, **10th Muharram ('Ashura) falls on Thursday**, therefore Muslims are encouraged to fast either:
* **Wednesday and Thursday**, or
* **Thursday and Friday**.
Being Generous to Our Families
Muharram is not only a time for fasting and worship but also a time for strengthening family ties and showing kindness to our loved ones.
The Prophet ๏ทบ is reported to have said:
"Whoever expands his expenditure upon his family on the day of 'Ashura, Allah will expand His provision upon him for the rest of the year."
*(Reported by al-Bayhaqi and others)*
The scholars explain that this encourages believers to show generosity, kindness and appreciation towards their families. This may be through providing a special meal, gifts, spending quality time together, or simply bringing happiness to the hearts of those closest to us.
A New Year, A New Beginning
The arrival of 1448 AH is a reminder that time passes quickly and that every year brings us closer to meeting our Creator. Let us use this blessed month to reflect upon our lives, renew our intentions, increase our worship, and strengthen our connection with Allah.
May Allah make this new Islamic year a year of goodness, guidance, barakah, health and success for our families, our community and the entire Ummah.
May Allah allow us to benefit from the blessings of Muharram, fast on the day of 'Ashura, and fill our homes with mercy, unity and barakah. Ameen. See attached poster for further details.
